Climbing to the Top of Teotihuacan

From my last trip to Mexico:

Teotihuacan1

My 10 year old son, Robby, wanted to climb to the top of the biggest pyramid at Teotihuacan. The last time I did this I was 15 years younger and 50 pounds lighter, but any parent would recognize the look in my son's face and there really was no option but to climb.

It's so big! My legs were burning before I reached the top. Thank gosh I quit smoking 10 years ago! For me, I had to go up with purpose and not think about it. Robby of course seemed to be doing somersaults all around me.

But victory never tasted to sweet. There's nothing quite like hugging your 10 year old on top of the ghosts of ancient America. Until Nintendo comes up with a comparable product, there is hope for us all.

  1. This made me so nostalgic for my childhood trips to Mexico! When I was a kid I would run to the top of the Pyramid of the Sun too. Lately I’ve been dying to go back there. I am now 15 years older too, and doubt I’ll have the energy and enthusiasm to climb it so fast like I did then. We’ll see!
