Historic Arikara Yellow Beans

We've been waiting to introduce this bean until we ran out of something major. This year's crop of Runner Cannellini are gone so I would like to introduce you to the Arikara Yellow bean.

It's not much of a looker. It's not even very yellow! But It's delicious and versatile and worthy of your attention. The original stock came from the Arikara people of the Dakotas, who bred it for short season growing. They supposedly gave some stock to Lewis and Clark, which helped them survive on their journey west. Thomas Jefferson grew it enthusiastically at Monticello. And now it's your turn to make some history!

Silky more than creamy, I think this versatile bean is going to be a winner.

  1. Why did you wait to introduce this? A local farmer grew these a few years ago, but I can’t find them anywhere…until now. They are my FAVORITE bean, so far!
