Blue Corn Tortillas

I’m just getting over everything, it seems. Christmas, New Year’s, a bad cold….it’s all in the past now. Less herbal tea, fewer Christmas carols and more good food is my goal.

We’ve started production again of our heirloom corn tortillas, using corn from our partners in the Rancho Gordo-Xoxoc Project. I love the blue corn the best but I have heard some people say the color is off-putting. I think they’re nuts. The blue is earthy and beautiful. And I love the flavor. It doesn’t just belong to Mexican food anymore. I had them this morning with scrambled eggs and Portuguese linguica. I was rather happy to start the day this way.

Our tortillas are available, while they last, at our store in Napa, at the farmers market in San Francisco on Saturday, at the Fatted Calf store in San Francisco and Napa and we’re workng on broader distribution.
